Construction worker dies after tree branch falls on him in city
DHAKA, Feb 3, 2021 (BSS) – A construction worker died after a branch of
a banyan tree fell on him in the city’s Kusumbagh Kalitola area under
Sabujbagh police station this morning, police said.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Nazrul Mollah, 44, son of Saher
Mollah, a resident of Dalachara village under Amtoli upazila in Barguna
district.
His coworker Motaleb said Nazrul along with others workers were carrying
construction materials to upper floors of an under construction building in
the area.
Around 10.30 am, the rope of the lifting machine tore off and part of
the machine fell on the nearby banyan tree. A branch broke and fell on his
head, leaving him critically injured, said Motaleb.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the
attending doctors declared him dead around 11:30am, said Bachchu Mia, in-
charge of DMCH police outpost.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Nazrul used to live in a mess in Khilgaon area.
