NATORE, Feb 3, 2021 (BSS)- A trial court here today sentenced a man to
life term imprisonment for raping two minor girls in the district over three
years back.
According to the court sources, the convict identified as Yeakub Ali, 36,
son of Esken Ali of Madrashapara village under Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna
district, was also fined Taka one lakh.
Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Muhammad
Imdadul Haque found the convict guilty of the charge and pronounced the
verdict in presence of him.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the accused called out the two
minor cousins at Shreeramgari area under Lalpur upazila of Natore district
alluring them to give chocolate. Then he took them to a nearby secluded place
and raped them on November 27, 2017.
Being informed, the relatives rescued the girls and admitted them to Lalpur
Upazila Health Complex in serious condition.
Mother of one of the victims had lodged a case with the Lalpur Police
Station and police subsequently arrested Yeakub Ali.
Upon completion of investigation, police pressed charges against the
arrestee.
After examining recorded depositions of 14 prosecution witnesses and other
relevant evidence the tribunal handed down the verdict.
