21 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Feb 3, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 21 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in six districts under Rajshahi division in the last 24 hours till Tuesday evening, climbing the number of infections to 25,301.

However, the new daily infection figure is one of the ever-lowest one compared to the previous couple of weeks, said the health department sources.

Of the infected patients, 23,628 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with nine new recoveries found during the time, they said.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 392 including 247 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported afresh today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest seven cases were detected each in Rajshahi and Sirajganj, followed by four in Bogura and one each in Naogaon, Natore and Joypurat.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 cases now stands at 5,984 in Rajshahi including 4,488 in its city, 822 in Chapainawabganj, 1,613 in Naogaon, 1,227 in Natore, 1,353 in Joypurhat, 9,888 in Bogura, 2,739 in Sirajganj and 1,675 in Pabna.

A number of 2,957 identified patients were undergoing treatment at designated hospitals in the division till this morning as 6,475 other suspected patients remained in isolation units and 5,681 have, by now, been released.

On the other hand, 37 more persons have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 18 others were released in all eight districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

A total of 65,492 people had, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 64,240 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period in the division.

Following detection of the new COVID-19 cases, the respective houses of the infected persons in different areas under the division were placed on a 14-day lockdown as per the health safety guidelines.

Dr Talukder said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain at home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.
