Former VC of Agricultural University Shah M Farouk dies

DHAKA, Feb 2, 2021 (BSS) – Dr Shah Mohammad Farouk, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural university (BAU), died of Covid-19 today at the age of 80.

He breathed his last around 1:30am at Covid-19 unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), his elder brother, also former principal Secretary of Bangladesh Government, Shah M Farid told BSS.

“After testing positive for Covid-19 last week, he was taken to Dhaka from Mymensingh and admitted to BSMMU. Later, on Saturday he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of BSMMU as his condition was deteriorating”, said Farid.

He was survived by his wife, two sons, friends, relatives, friends and a host of well wishers to mourn his death.

His Namaz-e-janaza was held at his hometown Mymensingh in limited scale this afternoon and later, he was buried at Golakibary graveyard of Mymensingh town, maintaining all the health guidelines.
