Only 6 tested COVID-19 positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Feb 1, 2021 (BSS) – Only six people tested coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today after testing collected samples at the two laboratories in the division.

Health officials said the six new cases were reported today after diagnosing 177 samples at the daily infection rate of 3.39 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 1.46 percent on Sunday, 5.41 percent on Saturday, 5.85 percent on Friday, 5.85 percent on Thursday, 1.74 percent on Wednesday, 4.89 on Tuesday and 1.59 percent on Monday last in the division.

Among the six new patients diagnosed today, only one from Nilphamari district was reported positive after diagnosing 83 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, five new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The five new patients include three from Dinajpur and one each from Panchagarh and Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,745 with six new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,745 patients stands at 4,014 in Rangpur, 787 in Panchagarh, 1,325 in Nilphamari, 963 in Lalmonirhat, 1,011 in Kurigram, 1,505 in Thakurgaon, 4,682 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
