Husband gets life imprisonment for killing wife
DHAKA, Feb 1, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced one Ershadul
Haque Mamun to life imprisonment for murdering his wife Ferdous Ara Lipi in
2006.
Dhaka 2nd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Roksana Begum Happy
pronounced the judgment in presence of the convict this noon and sent him to
jail after issuing the conviction warrant.
Mamun slaughtered his wife Lipi in their Mirpur home on January 23,
2006. Lipi’s brother Jamirul Islam Sumon filed the case with Shah Ali Police
Station the next day. Investigation officer and CID ASP Iqbal Azad on January
16, 2012, filed charge-sheet against Mamun, making 20 people witnesses in the
case.
The court on April 23, 2013, framed charges against the sole accused and
after examining nine out of total 20 prosecution witnesses on different
hearing dates, the court today came up with the judgement.
