50 more test positive for COVID-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 31, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 50 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1281 samples at seven COVID-19 laboratories in the district.

Among the newly detected patients, 48 are from Chattogram city and two from two different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

“The total numbers of COVID-19 patients now stand at 32963 only in Chattogram district till today and the infection rate is 3.9 percent,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said today.

Among the total 32963 coronavirus infected persons, 25,756 are the residents of the port city and the rest 7207 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

A total of 30,841 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from Covid-19 and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 93.62 percent in the district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.

The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutives real- time PCR tests were found negative, he said.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that the death toll from the virus rose to 368 with no fatalities reported afresh in the last six days.

Among the reported afresh fatalities 267 were the residents of the port city and the rest 101 were the residents of different upazilas of the district.

The health official mentioned that the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.

Besides, 1,522 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city.
