New CCC mayor wants to create new trend in Ctg through combined efforts
CHATTOGRAM, Jan 31, 2021 (BSS) – Freedom Fighter Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, the newly elected mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), said that he wants to create a new trend in the work of the city corporation through combined efforts.
“Solution of all problems is not possible at once, but I will introduce a new trend. An advisory committee will be formed combined with the journalists, intellectuals, engineers, doctors within a very short time,” he said while addressing a view exchange meeting with journalists at VIP Lounge of Chattogram Press Club this afternoon.
Chattogram Press Club (CPC) general secretary Chowdhury Farid delivered the welcome speech while its president Alhaj Ali Abbas presided over the function.
Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel, CPC senior vice president Salauddin Mohammad Reza, former CPC president Kalim Sarwar, CUJ general secretary Md. Shamsul Islam, City Awami League vice president Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Babul, its treasurer Abduch Salam, among others senior AL leaders, addressed the function.
“Chattogram is a city of perfect natural beauty. We are destroying the city’s beauty for the sake of the economy. In order to bring back the past glory of the port city, the canals of the city have to be dug thoroughly. I will try to rescue the old canal. I will be in a tough position in this regard,” he said.
The newly elected mayor said that “I am grateful to Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for giving me the nomination. The people of the port city voted for me with confidence in Sheikh Hasina’s development. I will repay the trust.”
Terming CCC as a permanent institution, Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel said that the organization should be criticized in the media, not the individual.
“Criticism of the organization does not mean criticism of the mayor,” he added. He called upon the journalists to present the correct information with honesty and courage; otherwise, the institution will become lifeless.
