Bangabandhu wanted youths to be dedicated, self-purified: Arefin

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had wanted to see the young generation as dedicated and self-purified to lead Bangladesh with the spirit of Liberation War.

He was addressing a discussion and cultural function marking the Mirpur Mukto Dibas (Free Mirpur Day) at Killing Field at Mirpur 10.

“If we can realize the ideology of Bangabandhu from our hearts, now a single person will remain deprived,” he said.

Prof Arefin, also chairman of board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina earlier declared that none will remain homeless in Bangladesh.

“Now the government is handing over houses to homeless and landless people. I think this is biggest gift of the Mujib Borsho,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, freedom fighter and cultural personality Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu said Bangabandhu had dreamt that every person of Bangladesh would stay well and get their fundamental rights.

Now people are enjoying their rights, he said.

Chaired by Jubo League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazle Fahim, the discussion was addressed, among others, by lawmaker Ilias Uddin Mollah, Jubo League Presidium Members Nabi Newaj, Engineer Mrinal Kanti Joddar and Anwar Hossain, Joint General Secretary Badiul Alam, Organizing Secretary Kazi Mazharul Islam, Jubo League’s Dhaka City South unit acting president Mainuddin Rana and Dhaka City North unit Vice-President Kazi Jahirul Islam Manik.

Jubo League Publicity Secretary Joydeb Nandee conducted the discussion.

Earlier, rich tributes were paid at the killing field.
