DNCC takes strong stance against linking sewerage lines to water bodies

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has urged people concerned to disconnect by March 31 links of the sewerage lines of all the installations including residential and commercial to storm water drain and water bodies for preventing water pollution of the capital.

“Linking sewerage lines to storm water drain and water bodies will not be allowed in any way,” a DNCC release said.

According to the DNCC sources, it is legally prohibited to link sewerage lines to water bodies. As per government policy, construction of septic tank and soak well is needed for proper drainage management. In spite of this, many have linked the sewerage lines of their installations to DNCC storm water drains and water bodies, which is a huge threat to environment and a crime also.

So the DNCC urged all to cut off the links of their sewerage lines to storm water drains or water bodies by March 31 and install septic tank and soak well for the sake of proper drainage management.
