Only four test COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Jan 30, 2021 (BSS) – Only four more people were tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today after testing collected samples at the two laboratories in the division.

Health officials said the four new cases were reported today after diagnosing 107 samples at the daily infection rate of 3.74 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 5.85 percent on Friday, 5.85 percent on Thursday, 1.74 percent on Wednesday, 4.89 on Tuesday, 1.59 percent on Monday, 5.26 percent on Sunday and 4.26 percent on Saturday last in the division.

Among the four new patients diagnosed today, none was reported positive after diagnosing only 13 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, four new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The four new patients include three from Dinajpur and one from Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:05 pm.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,735 as four new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,735 patients stands at 4,012 in Rangpur, 785 in Panchagarh, 1,323 in Nilphamari, 963 in Lalmonirhat, 1,010 in Kurigram, 1,505 in Thakurgaon, 4,679 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
