Prize distribution of “Mujib Barsho” Chess league held
DHAKA, Jan. 30, 2021 (BSS)- Champions Shahnoor Khan Smrity Sangsad were given cash prize of Taka twenty five thousand in a prize distribution ceremony of “Mujib Barsho” 2nd Division Chess League held today at Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) hall-room of National Sports Council old building in the city, said a BCF press release today.
The players of Shahnoor Khan Smriti Sangsad are CM Jamal Uddin, Avik Sarker, Delwar Hossain, Rashedul Hasan, SAM Naser and Sabikun Nahar Tonima.
Runners-Up Sports Bangla received a cash prize of Taka fifteen thousand and trophy. The players of Sports Bangla are Nasir Uddin, Saimon Siddiqur Rahman, Abzid Rahman, Sariatullah, CM Sadnan Hasan Dihan and Toriqul Islam Tareq.
Third place finishers Grassroots Sports Academy got a cash prize of Taka ten thousand and a trophy. The players of Grassroots Sports Academy Jodunath Biswas, Ariful Amin, Hadiuzzaman, Shafiqul Islam, Kazi Zarin Tasnim and Sadat Ibna Sultan.
Earlier, Shahnoor Khan Smrity Sangsad clinched the title of the league with 16 points out of nine matches while Sports Bangla finished runners-up with 15 points.
Grassroots Sports Academy and BD Chess in School earned 14 points each. In the tie-breaking system Grassroots Sports Academy became 3rd and BD Chess in School finished 4th position.
Six players received board prizes. The six players are 1st Board- Faizul Haque (Goalundo Daba Club), 2nd Board- Ariful Amin (Grassroots Sports Academy) and Avik Sarker (Shanoor Khan Smirity Sangsad), 3rd Board- Abzid Rahman (Sports Bangla), 4th Board-, Sariatullah (Sports Bangla), reserve 1- CM Sadnan Hasn Dihan (Sports Bangla) and reserve 2-Imam Hossain Mir (Bangladesh Shishu Academy).
Organized by BCF, the league, which concluded on Thursday last, was held in a nine round Swiss league system with the participation of record numbers of forty two teams.
