COVID-19 positive cases on decline in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 30, 2021 (BSS) – The numbers of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases, sample testing and deaths in Chattogram have decreased.

A total of 32 people were detected positive in Chattogram after testing 910 samples at seven laboratories in last 24 hours. The infection rate is 2.44 percent.

Earlier, 48 more people were detected positive for coronavirus yesterday after testing 915 samples at six COVID-19 laboratories in the district. The infection rate was 3.47 percent.

In those two days, the number of positive cases remained below 50 and the number of corona infection, sample tests and deaths in Chattogram decreased in last seven consecutive days in a row, Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.

Among the newly detected 32 patients, 30 are from Chattogram city and two from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

No people died in last three consecutive days.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients stands at 32913 in Chattogram district till today,”

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.

The civil surgeon told BSS that among the total 32913 coronavirus infected persons, 25,708 are the residents of the port city and the rest 7205 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

A total of 30,808 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from Covid-19 and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 93.61 percent in the district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram said.

The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutives real- time PCR tests found them negative for the virus, he said.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that the death toll from the virus stands at 368 with no fatalities reported afresh in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 1,512 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city.
