Two ‘Allahor Dal’ operatives held in Palashbari

RANGPUR, Jan 29, 2021 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) in a raid
arrested two alleged operatives of banned militant outfit ‘Allahor Dal’ from
Merirhat Bazar in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha on Thursday night.

“On a tip off, a special operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur
headquarters conducted the drive and arrested the militants with jihadi
books, leaflets and a mobile phone set from the spot,” said a press release
issued here this afternoon.

The arrestees were identified as Md. Abdul Alim Mandal, 42, son of late
Usman Gani Mandal and Md. Shafiul Islam, 28, son of Md. Khwaja Mian of
Palashbari upazila in Gaibandha district.

During interrogation, Alim confessed that he was earlier a fulltime chief
coordinator of the banned militant organisation for Kurigram district while
Shafiul Islam admitted his involvement with Polashbari unit of the same
organisation.

They had been conducting activities for the banned militant organisation
for a long time.

They had been regularly paying and collecting tolls, inspiring pious people
through misinterpreting religion taking advantage of their religious faith,
collecting new members and money for running organisational activities.

“The elite force handed the detainees over to Palashbari police station
after completing necessary legal process,” the release said, adding that
investigation continues to nab their other absconding associates.
