10 more test COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Jan 28, 2021 (BSS) – Ten more people were tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in the division where the daily infection rate remains below 10 percent consistently during the last six consecutive weeks. .

Health officials said the 10 new cases were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples at the daily infection rate of 5.32 percent.

The daily COVID-19 infection rates were 1.74 percent on Wednesday, 4.89 on Tuesday, 1.59 percent on Monday, 5.26 percent on Sunday, 4.26 percent on Saturday, 4.21 percent on Friday and 7.30 percent on Thursday last in the division.

Among the 10 new patients diagnosed today, three were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The three new patients include two from Rangpur and one from Gaibandha districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

Meanwhile, seven new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The seven new patients include six from Dinajpur and one from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,720 as 10 new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,720 patients stands at 4,007 in Rangpur, 785 in Panchagarh, 1,323 in Nilphamari, 962 in Lalmonirhat, 1,009 in Kurigram, 1,503 in Thakurgaon, 4,671 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
