Three brick kilns fined Taka 16 lakh in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 28, 2021 (BSS) – A mobile court has fined three brick kilns
Taka 16 lakh for illegally running those violating environmental laws and
erecting illegal chimneys and other unlawful structures.

The district administration with assistance of Rapid Action battalion
(RAB)-13, Police, the Department of Environment (DoE) and Fire Service and
Civil Defense conducted the mobile court on Wednesday at different brick
kilns in Pirganj upazila of the district.

The court, led by Executive Magistrate Rozina Akhter, imposed a total of
Taka 16 lakh fines on the owners of the three brick kilns located at
different villages in the upazila.

The court fined brick kiln owners Nur Alam Jadu of village Gopinath Dhar
Taka seven lakh, Abu Rayel Mian of village Khirar Para Taka seven lakh and
Lenin Sarker of village Hilli Taka three lakh during the raids.

During the daylong drives, the court also dismantled illegal chimneys and
structures harmful for the environment and other unlawfully erected
structures.

During the raids, Executive Magistrate Rozina Akhter said such
operations of the district administration would be continued in all eight
upazilas of Rangpur district.

“The operations were aimed at curbing various unlawful activities harmful
to the environment and banned by the government,” she added.

Officials and personnel of the district DoE, RAB-13, Police and Fire
Service and Civil Defense were present.
