Rezaul Karim elected CCC mayor
CHATTOGRAM, Jan 28, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) nominated candidate
freedom fighter M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has been elected mayor in the
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) election held on Wednesday.
Rezaul with ‘Boat’ symbol bagged 3,69,248 votes from 733 voting centres
while his nearest BNP-backed mayoral candidate Dr Shahdat Hossain managed 52,
489 votes with ‘Paddy Sheaf’ symbol from the same centres.
The Returning Officer of Chattogram City polls Mohammad Hasanuzzaman
declared the unofficial result of the mayoral race last night.
A total of seven mayoral candidates, 229 councillors were contesting in
the polls in 41 wards of CCC.
