Sheikh Jamal blow away Arambagh by 6-0 in BPL

DHAKA, Jan 27, 2021 (BSS)- Gambian forward Pa Omar Jobe slammed the first hat-trick in the BPL as Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club recorded their third successive victory in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) when they blew Arambagh Krira Sangha away by 6-0 at a match held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) here.

Apart from Pa Omar Jobe’s hat-trick with four goals, fellow mate Sulayman Sillah supported him with two goals to secure Sheikh Jamal’s emphatic victory on the day after leading the first half by 3-0 goals.

In the day’s match Pa Omar Jobe opened an account scoring the first goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 14th minute while forward Sulayman Sillah doubled the lead in the 18th minute of the match. Sulayman further widened the team’s margin scoring his second and third goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 35th minute.

After the resumption, Sheikh Jamal came to the field with Moiré in an organized way and added three more goals in the second half while Jobe scored his second and fourth goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 60th minute.

He completed his hat-trick scoring his third and fifth goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 62nd minute and sealed the victory scoring his fourth and sixth goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 90+1st minute of the match.

Sheikh Jamal clearly dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory while Arambagh KS were totally off-colored on the day.

With the day’s win, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club moved to the top of the league table with nine points from three matches, equal with Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Abahani Limited, who also have nine points each, while all losers Arambagh Krira Sangha is yet to secure any point playing four matches.

Sheikh Jamal will play their next match against Saif Sporting Club on February 2 at BNS while Arambagh will face Saif Sporting Club on February 6 at Bir Flight lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Earlier, Sheikh Jamal beat Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-1 goals in their league opening match, defeating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra also by the same margin in their second league’s match while Arambagh Krira Sangha lost by 0-3 goals to Mohammedan in their league opening match and suffered a 0-1 goal defeat to Chittagong Abahani Limited in their second match. They also conceded a 0-1 goal defeat to Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in their third match.

Thursday’s matches: Mohammedan Sporting Club vs Abahani Limited at Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Comilla at 3 pm, Chittagong Abahani Limited vs Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) at 3.30 pm and Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra vs Saif Sporting Club Limited at BNS at 6 pm.
