NATO holds emergency session on Trump defence spending demands: sources
BRUSSELS, July 12, 2018 (BSS/AFP) – NATO leaders held an emergency meeting at their Brussels summit on Thursday after US President Donald Trump repeated demands that allies should immediately increase their defence spending, diplomatic sources told AFP.
During a meeting with Ukraine and Georgia, “Trump took advantage of his speaking time to return to the issue of burden sharing”, and alliance chief Jens Stoltenberg then convened the meeting, one of the diplomatic sources said on condition of anonymity.
