Rajshahi records once again decline in COVID-19 infection

RAJSHAHI, Jan 26, 2021 (BSS) – Rajshahi division recorded 13 more new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours till Monday evening, raising its number to 25,152.

However, the new daily infection figure is the ever-lowest one since the infection began in the division, said the health department sources.

Of the infected patients, 23,407 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 25 new recoveries found during the time, they said.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 387 including 242 in Bogura and 54 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported afresh today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest six cases were detected in Bogura, followed by four in Sirajganj and three in Rajshahi city.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 cases now stands at 5,951 in Rajshahi including 4,463 in its city, 820 in Chapainawabganj, 1,599 in Naogaon, 1,223 in Natore, 1,349 in Joypurhat, 9,833 in Bogura, 2,718 in Sirajganj and 1,659 in Pabna.

A number of 2,939 identified patients were undergoing treatment at designated hospitals in the division till this morning as 6,431 other suspected patients remained in isolation units and 5,651 have, by now, been released.

On the other hand, 29 more persons have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 40 others were released in all eight districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

A total of 65,246 people had, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 63,943 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period in the division.

Following detection of the new COVID-19 cases, the respective houses of the infected persons in different areas under the division were placed on a 14-day lockdown as per the health safety guidelines.

Dr Talukder said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain at home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.
