Four Bangladeshi batsmen hit fifties in same match for third time

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 25, 2021 (BSS) – For the third time, Bangladesh saw four of their batsmen scored half-centuries in a match when their four senior batsmen—Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad got their respective fifty plus knock in the third and final ODI against West Indies at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.

Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad made an identical 64 while Shakib Al Hasan hit 51.

For the first time, Bangladesh saw four of their batsmen making fifty plus knocks in the match against Pakistan in Asia Cup at home in 2014.

In that match, Anamul Haque Bijoy struck 100, Imrul Kayes made 54 while Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim contributed identical 51 runs as Bangladesh posted their then highest 326-3.

However, Bangladesh still lost the match by three wickets as Pakistan reached the winning target with one ball remaining.

The incident happened for the second time in the 2015 World Cup when they played against Scotland. Even though Scotland put up 318-8, Bangladesh gunned down the target with ease, reaching 322-4 in 48.1 overs.

All of the senior batsmen—Tamim Iqbal (95), Mahmudullah Riyad (62), Mushfiqur Rahim (60) and Shakib Al Hasan (52 not out) hit half-centuries to help Bangladesh win the game.
