CHANDPUR, Jan 25, 2021 (BSS)- Ruling Awami League (AL)-backed lawyers’
panel candidates Advocate Md. Ahsan Habib and Advocate Md. Abdullah Al Mamun
have been elected President and General Secretary (GS) respectively in
Chandpur District Bar Association election.
Chief Election Commissioner of the election Advocate Md. Ibrahim Khalil
declared the results last night.
According to election results, AL-backed lawyer Advocate Md. Ahsan Habib
got 155 votes while his rival Advocate Mohammad Babor Bepari from BNP-backed
lawyers’ panel secured 121 votes. Advocate Md. Abdullah Al Mamun bagged 180
votes while his opponent Advocate Md Abdullah Baki got 100 votes.
Of the total 15 posts, Pro-AL backed lawyers’ panel secured 10 posts
including president and general secretary while BNP-backed lawyers’ panel got
rest five posts.
A total of 293 lawyers out of 294 cast their votes in the election which
was started at 12noon on Sunday. The voting of the election concluded around
4 pm.
