Journalists’ role vital to highlight development activities

RAJSHAHI, Jan 25, 2021 (BSS) – Proactive role of the journalists of print and electronic media is very important for highlighting the successes achieved by the present government.

Besides, the journalists have enormous scopes of preventing rumors which are being spread on different issues including some sensitive ones through their objective reporting.

The present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been attaining successes in various development indexes despite the adverse impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

So, the journalists have a pivotal role to reach the successes of the government to the grassroots people so that they can contribute a lot towards the nation-building process through boosting their level of confidence.

The views were expressed at a view-sharing meeting titled “Role of Media to Prevent Rumor and Circulation of Development News” hosted by the Regional office of Press Information Department (PID) at Friends Pick Auditorium in Rajshahi city today.

In the meeting, PID Principal Information Officer Surath Kumar Sarker gave an illustration of the present government’s achievements in various development sectors in his multimedia presentation.

With Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Kamruzzaman in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Editor of Dainik Barta SM Abdul Kader, Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat.

PID Deputy Principal Information Officer Muhammad Touhiduzzaman and Senior Information Officer Faruque Abdul Munim also spoke.

Surath Kumar Sarker said the media always work in favour of the mass-people depicting the government’s development and public-interest related works.

So, the media is a partner of the development activities and the media workers are supplementary to each other.

Surath Sarker highlighted the importance of constructive criticism and said the present government always welcomes it for consolidating democracy besides doing furthermore development works for welfare of the public in general.

Taking part in open discussions some of the attending journalists unequivocally called for infusing further dynamism into the PID activities so that the journalists can derive of its total benefits.
