RANGPUR, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a man to life term rigorous imprisonment and fined him Taka 25,000 for raping a 13-year old girl 12 years ago in the city.
Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 of Rangpur Md Zabid Hussaine handed down the sentence in his courtroom in presence of the convict.
The convict is Aynul Haque, son of Amjad Hossain of Madhya Binnatari area in the city.
In brief, the prosecution says the victim of the same area went to a bamboo bush near her house at around 8 pm to respond to the call of nature on March 10, 2009 when rapist Aynul forcefully raped her.
Listening to her scream, local people rushed there and held Aynul on the spot when his relatives attacked them and snatched away rapist Aynul.
The teenage girl with severe injury and excessive bleeding was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical conditions. She was on the verge of death.
The victim’s father filed a case in this connection with the Rangpur Kotwali police station.
The police submitted a charge sheet against the accused person to the court after investigating into the case.
After the testimony of eight witnesses of the plaintiffs and evidence in the case, the Judge found Aynul guilty and handed down the verdict against him today.
