2 Bandarban teenagers trampled to death by wild elephants
BANDARBAN, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS) – Two teenagers were stamped to death by wild elephants in Chaikhang Union of Alikadam Upazila here on Saturday night, police said.
The deceased were identified as Monsur, 19, son of Abdus Sobhan of Member Para area and Humayun Kabir, 17, son of Mohammad Hosen of Pattakhai Para area of Chaikhang Union.
Police sources said the wild elephants went on rampage in Oli Member Para area at around 11:30pm.
At one stage, both Monsur and Humayun were surrounded by elephants while trying to drive them away with flares, they said.
Then the duo was tramped and thrown away by the four-footed animals.
Monsur died on the spot while Humayun was pronounced dead on arrival at Lama Upazilla Health Complex, Alikadam thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Rakib Uddin told BSS.
Bodies were handed over to the families after autopsies, the official added.
