Mentioning that her government has a target to restore the lost glory of Dhaka University, Sheikh Hasina said, “Dhaka University is the best university in the country. So, we hope that the university will get back its lost glory with exercising knowledge, conducting research works alongside spreading education as it is the lighthouse of all of our achievements. The light of the university will spread all over the country.”

She said that she want the betterment of Dhaka University as it has shown the path of getting all the achievements.

The premier thanked the Dhaka University authorities to take a master plan to build it as a modern, knowledge and technology based university.

Her government, she said, has made education multifaceted to give importance on technical and vocational education alongside the regular education with setting up science and technology universities and specialized schools across the country.

The prime minister said after assuming office in 1996, her government had taken measures to bring back the educational atmosphere in the educational institutes including the Dhaka University where it was heard the sounds of explosions and gunshots.

Mentioning that no nation could prosper without education, she said, “The duty of our teachers is to teach the students while the students have the responsibility to learn from the teachers. So, everyone should work keeping that in mind.”

The prime minister said her government has been tirelessly working to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to take Bangladesh in a dignified position in the world as the people of the country could move around the world keeping their heads high.

She said Dhaka University could play a significant role in materializing the dream of the Father of the Nation.
