Ctg is more important than Dhaka in many ways :Hanif
CHATTOGRAM, Jan 21, 2021 (BSS) – Terming Chattogram as the second capital of Bangladesh, Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said that Chattogram, in many ways, is more important than Dhaka due to its port and international connectivity.
He made the comments as chief guest while exchanging views with journalists of Chattogram Press Club (CPC) held its PHP VIP Lounge on Thursday evening.
CPC President Alhaj Ali Abbas presided over the function while AL Office Secretary and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Barrister Biplob Barua, Saimum Sarwar Kamal, MP, Ashek Ullah Rafique, MP and CPC Executive Member Moazzemul Haque, among others, addressed the function.
Farid Uddin Chowdhury, General Secretary of CPC gave the welcome speech while its Joint Secretary Nazrul Islam conducted the function.
Responding to a query, Mahbubul Alam Hanif said that the political philosophy of BNP is to lodge complain against the government.
“Bangladesh has managed to keep the epidemic at a tolerable level under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a time when the whole world, including developed countries is in danger.
Hanif said that BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had said that the Corona vaccine would not come to the country; the government was doing false politics, even a week ago. But today the vaccine has reached in the country, he added.
Regarding CCC election, Hanif said that councilors were not nominated from the party, party only supported them. “We have asked the rebel candidates of AL to withdraw their candidatures on behalf of the party supported candidates. Many have done so. Now, the Party central office will take immediate disciplinary action against those who disobeyed the decision of the party,” he added.
Mentioning that his door is always open for the members of CPC, Hanif said that he will always come forward for any need of journalists of the Press Club.
Barrister Biplob Barua said that no one could have imagined in the past the development work done by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the country as well as in Chattogram.
“Chattogram is the place of personal passion of the Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Karnafuli Tunnel, flyover and the development plan of Chattogram are the result of this personal passion. Barrister Biplob Barua announced to continue his efforts in the overall development work of CPC,” he added.
