Nasrul for non-stop power supply for storing COVID-19 vaccines

DHAKA, Jan 21, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said uninterrupted power supply should be ensured in the areas where the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines will be stored.

“Uninterrupted power supply should be ensured in respective areas to store the coronavirus vaccines safely. Regular sources as well as alternative sources of power supply must be maintained. Moreover, standby generator should be provided in those areas,” he said.

The state minister made the remarks while addressing a meeting with power distribution companies here to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the coronavirus vaccine related storage facilities.

He also directed the Power Division to make a focal point at this time to coordinate issues related to ensuring uninterrupted power supply at the place of storage and delivery of vaccines.

Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) chairman Engineer Md Belayet Hossain, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) Chairman Major General Moin Uddin (Retd), Managing Director of the Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) Kawsar Amir Ali, Managing Director of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) Engineer Bikash Dewan and Managing Director of Northern Electricity Supply Company Limited (NESCO) Zakiul Islam highlighted the actions taken by their respective organizations.
