Chittagong Abahani return winning streak in BPL
DHAKA, Jan 21, 2021 (BSS) – Chittagong Abahani Limited shrugged off their previous match defeat as they bounced back to register a hard-fought solitary goal victory over Arambagh Krira Sangha in their second-round match held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
With the day’s win, Chittagong Abahani Limited opened their account securing three points from two matches while Arambagh KS yet to secure any point playing the same number of outings.
In the day’s match, Brazilian forward Nixon Brizolara scored the only goal for the port city team in the first half to secure victory for Abahani.
Nixon made all the difference in the match scoring the all-important goal for Abahani in the 30th minute and Abahani maintained their lead till the final whistle.
After the lemon break, both the teams however got several scoring chances but failed to convert any of those into a goal.
Abahani will play their next match against Saif Sporting Club at BNS while Arambagh Krira Sangha face Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj. Both the matches will be held on January 24.
Earlier, Chittagong Abahani Limited suffered a 1-2 goal defeat to Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club while Arambagh Krira Sangha lost to Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 0-3 goals, both their respective first round matches.
Meanwhile, holders Bashundhara Kings will take on Brothers Union Club at Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Cumilla at 3 pm at BNS and Abahani Limited, Dhaka will play against Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at 3.30 pm while Bangladesh Police Football Club face Utar Baridhara Club at 6 pm at BNS. All the third-round matches will be held on Saturday (January 23).
