23,195 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Jan 21, 2021 (BSS) – With recoveries of 48 more COVID-19 patients yesterday, the number of total cured patients from the lethal disease in the division now reached 23,195, said an official report.

A total of 2,920 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it said.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, today said the death toll from the virus rose to 384 including 240 in Bogura and 54 in Rajshahi with one more fatality reported afresh today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,408 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,634 have been released.

Meanwhile, with detection of 27 new more positive cases in five districts under the Rajshahi division on Wednesday, one of the lowest in daily infection compared to the previous couple of weeks, the total number of infected patients in the division has risen to 25,066, Dr Habibul Ahsan said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest 13 were detected in Bogura, followed by seven in Sirajganj, five in Rajshahi city and one each in Naogaon and Pabna.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the reported COVID-19 cases now stands at 5,926 in Rajshahi including 4,441 in its city, 819 in Chapainawabganj, 1,591 in Naogaon, 1,222 in Natore, 1,348 in Joypurhat, 9,799 in Bogura, 2,709 in Sirajganj and 1,652 in Pabna.

Dr Habibul Ahsan said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.
