Sheikh Russel register second win in BPL

DHAKA, Jan 20, 2021 (BSS) – Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra recorded their second successive victory in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by a solitary goal held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

The match was locked goalless at the breather.

After the barren first half, midfielder Mohammad Abdullah finally broke the deadlock scoring the all-important goal for Sheikh Russel in the 75th minute of the match.

Sheikh Russel KC dominated the proceeding, especially in the second half, and notched their deserving victory while Rahmatganj played gooD footbalL in the first half but they failed to keep their tempo in the second half.

With the day’s win, Sheikh Russel KC improved their tally with six points from two matches while Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society remained at their previous credit of one point playing the same number of matches.

Earlier, Sheikh Russel KC made a winning start in the league as they beat Brothers Union Club by 2-1 goals in their league opening match.

On the other hand, the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society shared point with Saif Sporting Club when their match ended in a 1-1 goal draw.

Meanwhile, three more second round matches will be held tomorrow (Thursday) with Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will take on Saif Sporting Club at Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Comilla at 3 pm, Chittagong Abahani Limited will face Arambagh Krira Sangha at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) at 3.30 pm while Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra meet Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at also at the same venue at 6 pm.
