Fisheries minister for dynamism, transparency in project implementation

DHAKA, 20 Jan, 2021 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today directed the project managers to make the project implement work more dynamic with transparency and responsibility.

He gave the directive while addressing a meeting to review the progress of the development projects of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) and Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, included in the annual development programme for the fiscal year 2020-21, said a press release here.

The minister said, “Even if the pandemic situation continues, the implementation of the projects should not slow down…There is no scope to stop the development work on any excuses.”

Saying that the project implementation work must be expedited, he called upon the stakeholders to be vigilant to check any flaws or irregularities in the projects.

“If there is any problem in the implementation of the projects, you have to bring it forward. All kinds of cooperation will be provided by the department and the ministry,” Rezaul told the project managers.

Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Raunak Mahmud, Additional Secretary Shah Md Imdadul Haque, Shyamal Chandra Karmakar and Md Taufiqul Arif, Director General of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute Dr Yahya Mahmud and Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Dr Nath were, among others, present at the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the implementation progress of 10 projects, including four of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute and six of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, and in the annual development program in FY 2020-21 till December 2020.
