306 trained youths get business inputs in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 19, 2021 (BSS) – Some 306 trained unemployed local youths on various technical trades have received business materials, equipment and inputs to begin various income generating activities (IGAs) to become economically self-reliant.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan distributed the inputs in a function organised by Mohideb Jubo Samaj Kallyan Samity (MJSKS) under its Youth Employment and Skills Development project here on Monday afternoon as the chief guest.

Presided over by Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development Dilgir Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Golam Rabbani and Assistant Director of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority Engineer Faruk Alam addressed the function as special guests.

Pirganj Upazila Youth Development Officer Abdur Rashid, Project Manager of Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) Bangladesh Shafikur Rahman and Deputy Director of MJSKS Amal Kumar Majumder spoke.

Moderated by Project Coordinator of MJSKS Elias Ali, trained youths Ashraful Islam (Mobile Phone Servicing), car driver Most Sobri Khatun, Kohinoor Begum (Jute-made products manufacturing), Runa Laila (Mat Maker) and Nur Mohammad Masud (Incubator) narrated their experience and aspirations in the function.

Project Coordinator of MJSKS Elias Ali said 306 unemployed male and female youths of Pirganj, Taraganj and Mithapukur upazilas of Rangpur have been provided technical training on twelve trades to make them self-reliant through various IGAs.

The trades are Mobile Phone Servicing, Electrical House Wiring, Car Driving, AC and Refrigerator Servicing, Solar Technology, Computer and ICT, Making Mats with Garments ‘Jhutes’, Jute Products Making, Poultry, Rearing Goats n Sheep and others.

“Even after distributing machineries, inputs and business materials among the trained male and female youths, we will continue to extend assistance to them until their monthly income crosses the Taka 3,500 mark,” Ali said.

The chief guest highly appreciated the initiative of providing technical training to the unemployed youths by MJSKS and assisting them in attaining self-reliance through IGAs on the way to attaining the Vision-2021 and sustainable development goals by 2030 next.
