Freedom fighter Nizamuddin Laskar laid to rest
SYLHET, Jan 18, 2021 (BSS) – Freedom fighter and cultural personality Nizamuddin Laskar, who died in a Sylhet hospital on Sunday, was laid to rest with state honor this afternoon.
He was laid to rest at Dorgah graveyard after Zuhr prayers following a namaz-janaza there.
Earlier, many paid tribute to him as his body was kept at Sylhet Shaheed Minar this morning.
The freedom fighter was given a guard of honour under the leadership of Additional District Magistrate at the place around 11:30am.
Different organisations and political parties, including Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Muktijoddha Sangsad Sylhet Metropolitan Unit Command, Workers Party of Bangladesh, District Shilpakala Academy Sylhet, District Council Sylhet, Sylhet District Awami League, Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League, Sylhet Press Club and Combined Cultural Alliance.
Various organizations including Sylhet, Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet, Sylhet District Press Club, Sylhet Station Club, Udichi Sylhet and Electronic Journalists Association placed wreaths at the coffin of the freedom fighter there.
