5 mayoral candidates lose their security deposits in Gaibandha Municipal polls.
GAIBANDHA, Jan 18, 2021 (BSS) – Five out of eight candidates who contested in the Gaibandha Municipality polls on January 16 for the post of mayor, have lost their security deposits for failure to get one-eighth of the total vote cast.
Election office sources said, the number of voters of Gaibandha Municipality is 51,387. Of them 35,295 voters cast their vote on the election day.
Eight candidates contested in the polls of which five candidates failed to get one eighth of the cast votes as a result, they lost the security deposit.
Those who lost the security deposit in the polls are Md. Shahiduzzaman Shahid of BNP (918), independent candidate Md. Mirza Hasan (373), independent candidate Md. Shamsul Alam (2669), rebel candidate of Awami League Md. Faruk Ahmed (1692), independent candidate Md Ahsanul Karim Lachu (1974)
