Auspicious start of Sheikh Jamal in BPL
DHAKA, Jan. 18, 2021 (BSS)- Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club made a auspicious start in the Bangladesh Premier League Football beating Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-1 goals in their league opening first round match held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
In the day’s match, Uzbek forward Otabek Validjanov and striker Nurul Absar scored one goal each for Sheikh Jamal both in each half while Brazilian forward Nixon Brizolara netted the lone goal for the port city team in the second half.
Otabek Validjanov opened an account scoring the first goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 40th minute while after the resumption Nurul Absar doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 50th minute of the match.
After that, Abahani were trying desperately to fight back launching some attacks in the remaining proceeding but they could not convert lack of proper finishing. However Brazilian recruit Nixon Brizolara finally reduced the margin for Abahani in the 84th minute of the match from a penalty.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club played good football dominating the proceedings while Chittagong Abahani were off-colored on the day, except the day’s lone goal.
Meanwhile, holders Bashundhara Kings takes on Bangladesh Police Football Club 3.30 pm while Brothers Union Club meet Abahani Limited, Dhaka in the second encounter at 6 pm to be held tomorrow at the same venue.
