DHAKA, Jan 18, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced one person
to 10-year imprisonment in a case lodged over recovery of illegal arms
and ammunition in the capital’s Mirpur area in 2000.
Dhaka 2nd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Roksana Begum Happy
passed the order, sentencing Md Khokon to 10-year imprisonment under
section 19 (a) and seven-year imprisonment under section 19 (f) of the
arms act.
As the two sentences would run concurrently, the convict has to
suffer 10-year behind jail, the order said.
According to the case documents, Khokon was arrested on May 24,
2000, for possessing illegal arms and ammunition and the police on
October 17, 2000, filed a charge-sheet in the case.
The court today came up with the judgment after examining six out of
total 13 witnesses on different hearing dates.
