3 file nominations for Melandah mayoral post
JAMALPUR, Jan 18, 2021(BSS) – Three candidates have submitted nomination papers for mayoral post in Melandah municipality in the district.
The last day for submission of nomination papers was Sunday.
Melandah Upazila Election officer Anwar Mahmud said one each candidate from Awami League, BNP and Islami Andolan Bangladesh submitted their nomination papers to the returning officer.
The mayoral candidates are incumbent mayor Farhan Zahedi Robin (AL), Md Manowar Hossain (BNP) and Liyakat Ali (Islami Andolan Bangladesh).
Besides, 38 candidates submitted nomination papers for 9 ward councilors and 10 candidates for 3 women reserved councilor posts.
Returning Officer Golam Mostafa said the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on January 19 and withdrawal on January 26.
The election will be held on February 14, he added.
