RAJSHAHI, Jan 17, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 878 more employees of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) were given blankets and soap to make sure their health protected from the adverse impact of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic situation amidst the present cold weather.
RCC administration distributed the health protective materials among the less-income employees of health, security, environment and conservancy sections at a function held at the city bhaban green plaza this afternoon saying the support will also be continuing in the days to come.
City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by his office colleagues like Ward Councilors, Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin and Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun distributed the support.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said the city corporation at present has been working relentlessly for making the city modern coupled with green and eco-friendly through adopting need-based projects.
“We are going to implement a mega project involving around Taka 3,000 crore for improving the living and livelihood condition of its people,” he said.
The project titled “Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development in Rajshahi City” will be implemented in order to promote the city’s major need-based sectors. The project will contribute a lot towards taking the city to a new height, he added.
Mayor Liton listed the around sixty-nine infrastructural development works to be implemented under the project that includes construction of six flyovers, 60 Bangabandhu Murals, central Shaheed Minar, 17 foot-over bridges and walkways besides water bodies.
He said 284.86-kilometer roads will be constructed with reconstruction of 186.36-kilometer and widening of other 30.56-kilometer roads.
Around 41.92-kilometer footpath, 62.07-kilometer walkways, 17 beautification infrastructures, 30 public toilets and four recreational parks will also be constructed, he said.
292.34-kilometer tertiary drains, 59.33-kilometer secondary drains and 4.51-kilometer primary drains will be constructed, he added.
Earlier, 2,000 low-income workers of the city corporation were given similar types of supports on December 30 last.
