BCU for opening halls before exams

DHAKA, Jan 16, 2021 (BSS) – Leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) today demanded opening the dormitories of country’s public universities and hold the examination immediately maintaining health safety guidelines to ease the looming session jam.

BCU, central committee leaders also demanded announcement of the results of HSC examination immediately to reduce session congestion and to withdraw all the academic fees realized during pandemic by public and private educational institutions in the name of different fees.

They came up with an eight-point demand at a press conference at Madhu’s Canteen of Dhaka University this afternoon.

Other demands include announcement of the roadmap of opening educational institutions following suggestions of experts, taking effective measures in all the universities and colleges to check session jam, bringing an end to communalism in textbook, stopping evening and commercial courses at all universities.

“University students are facing a sense complete uncertainty and feeling frustration fearing from session jam. So, it has become crying need to hold the examination of university with opening their dormitories immediately,” Chhatra Union president Foyez Ullah said while reading out a written statement in the press conference.

Students have been losing their learning interests for prolonged closure of educational institutions and it will not be easy to restore and draw their attention back to book, he added.

Chhatra Union General Secretary Dipak Shil, Organising Secretary Sumaiya Setu and leaders and activists of different unit took part in the press conference.

BCU in the press conference also announced a series of agitation programmes which include holding of protest rally on January 18 in the capital and view exchange meeting with students and guardians on January 25.
