Speakers for stopping early marriage

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jan 16, 2021 (BSS): Prime Minister’s Private Secretary (PS)-2 Wahida Aktar in an opinion exchanging meeting today emphasized the need for waging a social movement for stopping early marriage in the country.

Chapainawabganj district administration arranged the opinion exchanging with the principals of colleges, madrassah superintendents, head teachers of schools, marriage registrars, moulovies and public representatives at Bangabandhu Manch on the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Chapainawabganj Md. Manjurul Hafij presided over the event.

Prime Minister’s private secretary (PS)-2 Wahida Aktar attended the meeting as the chief guest.

Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiar attended it as the special guest.

Among others, Superintendent of Police (SP) AHM Abdur Rokib, Civil Surgeon of Chapainawabganj Dr. Jahid Nazrul Chowdhury, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Md. Abul Kalam and Additional District Magistrate Md. Zakiul Islam also spoke on the occasion.

‘We are now living in an era of satellite. Islam is a modern religion and it approves all modern facilities, she urged religious personalities not to push our daughters to death by the misinterpretation of religion.

She said, if an un adult girl is married, she can not bear the mental and physical stress and becomes sick. An immature mother gives birth to an immature baby which leads the nation to suffer a bad cycle of immaturity, she added.

She further added that the women have come out of home and the country has been able to develop saying that Begum Rokeya had also to suffer enormous troubles in the name of religion.

Wahida Aktar said, we stepped into a wrong trap in the name of the division of the country in 1947. The Pakistanis repressed us in all respects and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman protested it and we got the independent Bangladesh under his leadership.

Now his competent daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been striving hard to march the country forward as mother of humanity.

Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiar said, when country’s population was seven crore, we had scarcity of food and now our population is 16.5 crore but we have enough food under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier, a prize distribution function was also held at the same venue. Winners of different competitions arranged on the occasion of Mujib Barsha received the prizes.
