MEHERPUR, Jan 14, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Public
Administration Farhad Hossain today called for helping persons with
disabilities for betterment of the society.
“Persons with disabilities are not burden to the society rather
they are assets and empathy has to be showed for them,” he said while
distributing free wheelchairs and hearing aids among the disabled
people provided by the National Disabled Development Foundation here.
The event was organized by Meherpur District Administration and
Disability Services and Relief Center.
Farhad Hossain said all government organizations and social welfare
organizations have to work sincerely for the welfare of handicapped
people.
He added that many children are born with disabilities due to
environmental pollution. “We have to be careful about environmental
pollution,” he said, adding that the brick kilns that are being built
everywhere are one of the causes of environmental pollution.
He called for setting up eco-friendly brickfields, saying it is
necessary to shift these brickfields outside the locality.
Farhad hoped that Meherpur would become a role model of
socio-economic development and he urged all to work together to this
end.
Meherpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Munsur Alam Khan presided over
the function. Superintendent of Police SM Murad Ali, Civil Surgeon Dr
Mohammad Nasir Uddin and Public Prosecutor Advocate Pallab
Bhattacharya also addressed the function.
Tulsi Kumar Pal, Officer for Disability Services and Relief Center,
gave welcome speech.
