4 die in house collapse in northern India
NEW DELHI, July 11, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – Four members of a family died and
two others were injured after their house collapsed due to heavy rains in
India’s Uttarakhand state Wednesday, officials said.
The incident took place in the hilly state’s capital Dehradun.
“A large wall of the house collapsed due to heavy overnight rains. While
four family members died on the spot, the injured have been hospitalized,” a
disaster management official said.
Local police chief rushed to the spot and oversaw rescue operations
carried out by cops and disaster management personnel, reports said.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, the official added.
House collapses due to heavy showers are common in India during the
monsoon season.
