RANGPUR, Jan 14, 2021 (BSS) – A mentally unbalanced woman was killed under the wheels of a running train near Pirgachha Rail Station in Pirgachha upazila of the district today.
Police said the deceased was identified as Sharmin Begum, 42, wife of Shahadul Islam of Anontaram Koshaitari village in Pirgachha upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Pirgachha police station Azizul Islam said locals saw the body lying on the rail line there in the morning when her husband Shahadul Islam came there and identified the body.
Shahadul said his wife Sharmin was mentally unbalanced and she left the house sometime on Wednesday night.
She was not found after much searching in the whole area.
Pirgachha Rail Station Master Waheed Mandal said Sharmin might have been cut under the Kartoa Express that went through that line to Santahar as the last train on Wednesday night.
Sub-inspector Mohammad Kaikobad of Government Railway Police said the body was handed over to her family without conducting an autopsy as Sharmin was mentally unbalanced.
