Hallmark chairman Jesmin gets 3-year imprisonment

DHAKA, July 11, 2018 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced Jesmin Islam,
disgraced chairman of Hallmark Group, to three years imprisonment and fined
her Taka 20 lakh for not submitting wealth statement to Anti-Corruption
Commission (ACC).

Judge Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman of Dhaka 5th Special Judge’s Court passed the
order in presence of Jesmin, who was produced before the court by the police.

The court ordered the state to realize the money within sixty days.

Then deputy assistant director of ACC Muhammad Joynal Abedin filed the non-
submission case with Ramna Police Station against Jesmin as she failed to
submit her wealth statement despite repeated warning.

Jesmin, also wife of Hallmark Group managing director Tanvir Mahmud, who
along with his wife is accused of much talked about Hallmark loan scam case.

The ACC while probing the case, found information about huge undeclared
wealth of the couple and asked Jesmin to submit statement regarding this.
