RANGAMATI, Jan 13, 2021 (BSS)- Three people including a truck driver were
killed when a bailey bridge over Rangamati-Khagrachhari road collapsed here
on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as truck driver Md Arafat, 30, of Chakaria
upazila in Cox’s Bazar, Muhammad Johirul Islam, 35, of Dinajpur district and
Muhammad Bachchu, 28.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station Kabir Hossain
said the bridge collapsed in the morning when Khagrachhari-bound a brick and
stone-laden truck from Chattogram was crossing it in Kutubchhari area under
Rangamati sadar upazila, leaving three people dead on the spot.
Being informed, firefighters of Rangamati Fire Service and Civil Defence
unit rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
Later, the bodies were handed to the victims’ families after post-mortem
at Rangamati General Hospital, the OC added.
