RAJSHAHI, Jan 13, 2021 (BSS) – With recoveries of 22 more COVID-19 patients yesterday, the number of total cured patients from the lethal disease in the division now reached 22,789, said an official report.
A total of 2,903 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it said.
Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, today said the death toll from the virus rose to 379 including 236 in Bogura and 54 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported for the third consecutive day.
Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,333 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,607 have been released.
Meanwhile, with detection of 28 new more positive cases in six districts under the Rajshahi division on Tuesday, one of the lowest in daily infection compared to the previous couple of weeks, the total number of infected patients in the division has risen to 24,821, Dr Habibul Ahsan said.
Of the new positive cases, the highest 10 were detected in Bogura followed by six each in Rajshahi city and Sirajganj, four in Naogaon and one each in Joypurhat and Pabna districts.
With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the reported COVID-19 cases now stands at 5,891 in Rajshahi including 4,409 in its city, 818 in Chapainawabganj, 1,571 in Naogaon, 1,214 in Natore, 1,334 in Joypurhat, 9,691 in Bogura, 2,662 in Sirajganj and 1,640 in Pabna.
Dr Habibul Ahsan said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.
