25,273 infected, 24,054 recovered from Covid-19 in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 12, 2021 (BSS) – With detection of 25 new positive cases in all the 10 districts of the division, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 25,273 till this noon.

A total of 24,054 have been cured from the lethal virus infection with recovery rate 95.18 percent,” Assistant Director for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS.

The total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 25,273 with 25 new positive cases were reported after testing 76 samples at the Khulna Medical College laboratory and two others COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division during the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, nine were detected in Jashore, followed by five in Khulna in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients are 7,249 in Khulna, 4,693 in Jashore, 3,810 in Kushtia, 2,320 in Jhenaidah, 1,655 in Chuadanga, 1,537 in Narail, 1,158 in Satkhira, 1,043 in Bagerhat, 1,054 in Magura and 754 in Meherpur, she added.

“Among the total 25,273 coronavirus infected people, 2,899 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 24,054 have been recovered and 446 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 446 in the division with no more deaths reported on Monday.

The district-wise break-up of the fatalities are 115 in Khulna, 86 in Kushtia, 55 in Jashore, 40 in Jheneidah, 40 in Chuadanga, 32 in Satkhira, 26 in Bagerhat, 20 in Narail,16 in Meherpur and 16 in Magura in the division.

“The average casualty rate among all 25,273 COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 1.76 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 83 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while others 35 were released in all the 10 districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 12 this noon .

A total of 66,996 people had, so far, been kept under home quarantine and isolation at hospital.

Of them, 65,831have, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 2,899 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
