Number of corona attacks, deaths gradually decreasing in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 12, 2021 (BSS) – For the third consecutive day in a row, the number of corona attacks and deaths in Chattogram has gradually decreased bringing relief to the common people.

A total of 75 people were detected with Covid-19 in Chattogram in the last 24 hours while the infection rate is 4.84.

One hundred 17 new people were reported coronavirus positive on Monday with daily infection rate 8.43 percent.

Meanwhile, 125 corona patients detected positive on Sunday with 9.15 percent infection rate.

In those three days, the number of identified patients remained below, civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, adding that no people died in the last 48 hours, one passed away on Sunday while none died on Saturday.

Both the number of infections and deaths were comparatively lower than on other days before Friday, hospital sources said.

According to the report from the labs in Chattogram on Tuesday, a total of 75 people were detected positive with coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1,517 samples at seven COVID-19 laboratories.

Among the newly detected patients 69 are from Chattogram city and six from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 29,889 in the district with healing of 70 more people in the last 24 hours and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 94.67, the health official said.

“The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutives real- time PCR tests were found negative,” he said, adding that the total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached at 31,653 in the district.

Among the total infected patients, 24,648 are the residents of the port city and the rest 7,049 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district

Dr Rabbi said the death toll from the virus rose to 363 with no fatality reported afresh in the last 24 hours.

Among the total fatalities, 259 are from Chattogram city and 104 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

A total of 1,918 infected patients were also undergoing treatment in designated hospitals in the port city.
