GAIBANDHA, Jan 12, 2021 (BSS) – The enthusiastic farmers here have set up a total of 89 High Quality Seed Production Blocks under supervision of agriculture officers of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and Seed Certification Authority (SCA).
DAE Office sources said a number of 14 blocks had been set up in Sadar upazila, 11 in Sadullapur, Palashbari and Shaghata upazilas each, 18 in Gobindaganj upazila, 16 in Sundarganj upazila and 08 in Fulchhari upazila in the district for producing high quality of seed of various crops.
The crops include black gram (Mash Kalai), lentil (Mashur dal), mung bean (Mung dal), grasp pea (Kheshari dal), mustard, sesame (Teel), China nut, ginger, turmeric, onion, garlic and chili.
Most of the crops passed the pod formation stage and some are in continuous stage.
Deputy Director of the DAE agriculturist Masudur Rahman said sub assistant agriculture officers of his department were instructed to motivate the farmers to set up seed production blocks to produce high quality seed under a government project.
